Tribal Education

I. Residential Schools :

Impressed by the unshaken devotion to ideology, perseverance and management skill of the Trust, the Welfare Department of Government of Jharkhand handed over the management responsibility of

1) one Residential Primary School for Scheduled Tribes, meant for primitive tribes, in 2006 and

2) Ekalavya Model Awasiya Uchya Vidyalaya in Tamar Block of Ranchi in 2007, meant for tribal children.

It is the efficient management intervention of the Trust, that today both the Schools not only upgraded in terms of number of classes, but quality wise both are gradually assending.

II. Residential Camps for Tribal Girls :

Henceforth, the Trust conducted six 9-month Residential Camps for Tribal Adolescent Girls wherein illiterate tribal girls are identified from the remotest village, kept in a training camp and through a specially tailored syllabus they are made eligible for Std. V and they are mainstreamed at the end of the Camp. This was done In collaboration with Jharkhand Education Project.

Free Education :

Back in 1992, when the concept of taking education to the grass-root level itself was in a nascent stage, the Trust took a bold step by opening up the portal of Kerala Samajam Model School, one of the best ICSE Schools in town, for the underprivileged students coming from near-by slums for absolutely free education in Hindi in the Afternoon when the building of this morning School is idle.

This innovative initiative was taken with a vision to make education accessible to the lowest rung of the Society. Presently more than 4000 students are getting Quality Education absolutely free from these Afternoon Schools.

The outstanding success of this innovative project promoted other schools to undertake this technique and it has earned appreciation even from Unicef and World Bank representatives.

Rural Education

1) Rural School Adoption Programme : To enable the rural kids to get education and also to ensure rural development, the Trust initiated a noble and innovative project, under which non-aided rural schools lying defunct due to non-availability of fund were given financial support so that they can strive hard and establish themselves as regular Schools. The innovativeness lies in this programme is that with the help of the staff of these Schools students and villagers were mobilised for development of their surroundings. Under this project two rural Schools were helped for ten years. Both the Schools have now come out of the financial crunch and are functioning independently.

2) Study Centre : In association with some local youth, the Trust opened a Study Centre in a village, Dorkasai, far away from Jamshedpur, wherein rural kids (mostly dropouts) are expected to get their preparatory education from local youths with ultimate goal of mainstreaming them into formal government Schools. A library is being developed for the benefit of the students and local inhabitants.
